First day back for the indoor regional events took us to the excellent Teesside indoor facility at the Skippers Lane warehouse. Even though many of the usual A final contenders were absent, and probably nursing headaches after attending Adam Skelding's stag party, the entry was good, with five heats of 2wd and four of 4wd.
There was only Ben Riley representing the F1's, so this was a chance to get some good points in the bag early on. Although Ben dominated qualifying in 2wd, he didn't have it all his own way in 4wd. Tom Cockerill took TQ, setting his best time in round 3, and Ben was on target to beat him in round 4, but made an error on the last lap eventually finishing half a second down. The final was a closely fought race between Tom and p3 qualifier Richard Harper, but Tom came through for his first NE regional win.
