York Indoor Regional Round 5 of 5.

(4wd)
The last round of the 2003/4 indoor
series was run by York Off Road Model car Club at the Huntingdon School
venue. We are pleased to say that support for the series has been
fantastic throughout, and this was maintained at York with a total of 88
drivers competing in both 4wd and 2wd classes. Lets hope that we get
similar entries for the outdoor meetings.

The track at York is made up the usual mixture of carpet, polished
floor, a couple of jumps and a rumble section. All the technical
sections were in good view from the rostrum with the largest jump being
placed directly in front of it. The usual yellow Schumacher compound
tyres were used by all drivers with mini-pins being the favourite.

Well so much for predictions, both were
wrong! 2wd
As we have said before Ben Riley and Richard Lowe have provided a high
level of entertainment all season with close and clean racing. Richard
was unfortunate to suffer from interference in the A final which meant
that Ben was able to set about
chasing
Paul Bradby who led the race from the start, and also TQ'd the meeting.
Ben's score was enough to win the 2 wheel drive championship by one
point, well done Ben.
Pictured is Paul Bradby receiving his TQ
prize from Race Director, Phil Studley.

Tom Cockerill had qualified consistently all day, and Richard Harper
had too, but Richard needed to win and TQ the meeting and all Tom had to
do was finish higher than eighth. As they say, it's never over etc.....a
first corner incident involving at least 4 cars left Tom's Predator too
badly damaged to continue and he retired after a couple of laps. With
Andrew Bulmer (Lap 1) and Carl Hopps (Lap 3) also retiring early in the
race the track was clear for Richard to put consistent times in, and
leading from start to finish also got his extra point. Another
championship that was won by a single point, congratulations to Richard.

Phil dishing out the
bubbly again, this time to Richard Harper

There were some interesting lines taken
over the big jump!

It was a difficult day in race control,
but most drivers wouldn't have known.
Well done and thank you to Phil Studley, Derek Bradby and all the York
team for an excellent meeting

Just a couple of notes to finish.
If you have your name down for the Indoor Finals at Watford on the
13th/14th March, please ensure that your fees are paid to Derek Bradby
before Saturday 28th February - no fees no entry.
