| The weather started out quite good and the everyone enjoyed a cool, but dry practice session. However Batley Buggy Club's run of bad luck with the weather continued, and soon after practice had ended it started to rain, then continued most of the day. The clay banking, which has provided some controversy over the years, was immediately taken out, as when wet can be dangerous for the marshals, and is certainly messy for the mechanics. The race director inevitably chose round by round, with the track actually getting faster as the day went by, with the fastest time being posted in round four. Special attention was paid by race control to control the discipline of drivers whilst racing and everyone responded by providing competitive and clean heats, sometimes in very difficult conditions. No three leg finals this time, but at least we got home in plenty of time to watch the Grand Prix. |
